Highway 99 Improvements
Congressman Radanovich and Congressmen Gary Miller and Devin Nunes have been working to improve Highway 99 in California. This major corridor is one of the busiest highways in the United States and is traveled by more trucks than “Interstate 5”. The average daily traffic for Highway 99 is 109,000 vehicles per day.
Meeting with the Department of Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta and Governor Schwarzenegger’s office, Congressman Radanovich and his colleagues have discussed the need for these vital improvements. Both offices recognize this need, as Fresno, the 6th largest city in California and the 27th largest city in the United States, is not on the interstate highway system.
The San Joaquin Valley is the fastest growing section in California. Highway safety and increasing commerce is a concern for a highway that has been in disrepair for too long
This important issue to improve and designate Highway 99 as a federal interstate is a major priority to Congressman Radanovich. He will continue to work at making this a reality.
"Congressman Radanovich has worked tirelessly on these issues since he was first elected to serve in 1994," Chairman Pombo said. "His leadership was instrumental in getting CALFED out of the halls of Congress - where it had been for almost a decade - and onto the President's desk last year. This chairmanship was tailor made for George and I look forward to seeing him wield the gavel in the 109th Congress. I expect great things from his panel."
"I look forward to advancing many important issues to California such as the rewrite of the Telecommunications Act, E-911 Issues and the transition to Digital TV."
